On board of a big ship, a simple old man met a young professor and they started to have conversations along the journey. Every nite, that old man came to the professor's cabin, trying to learn something from the learned man.
On the first night;
Professor : old man, do you know what 'geology' is?
that old man : oh, Professor Sir, I never went to school, I know nothing about geology. Could you tell me what it is?
Professor : oh, poor old man, you don’t know what geology is. It's the science of the earth. You’ve wasted a quarter of your life.
That old man felt so sad. If the professor said that he wasted a quarter of his life, then, it must be true..
On the second night, the two men met again.
Professor : old man, do you know what 'oceanology' is?
that old man : Professor Sir, I am just a simple man, I don’t know that oceanology is. What is that, sir?
Professor : oh, poor old man, you don’t know what oceanology is. We are sailing and you don’t know the science of the sea. You’ve wasted half of your life..
The old man felt so sad, so incredibly sad. He just found out that he wasted half of his life..
On the third night, still eager to learn, that old man came to the professor's cabin again.
Professor : old man, do you know what 'meteorology' is?
that old man : Professor Sir, you know I am just a simple man, I don’t know that meteorology is.
Professor : oh, poor old man, you don’t know what geology is; you also don’t know what oceanology is. And now you don’t know what meteorology is. It's the science of the sky and the weather. You’ve wasted three quarter of your life!
The old man felt so sad, so incredibly sad; he just found out that he wasted three quarter of his life..
On the fourth night, that old man ran into the professor, and start asking.
that old man : Professor Sir, .. Professor Sir, do you know 'swimmology'?
Professor : old man, I know a lot of things, but I've never heard of 'swimmology'. What is that?
that old man : do you know how to swim, Sir?
Professor : to swim?? Hah! .. I didn’t have time to learn how to swim; I was busy learning other things. I can’t swim.
that old man : oh poor professor .. you've wasted all of your life. If you had known swimmology, you could have swim to the shore, because the ship is sinking now..
And that old man jumped from the ship into the ocean, swam away from that sinking ship.

kulihat-lihat di koran online, seri 320i ini ternyata memang gila-gilaan spec-nya. aku jadi ga berani sembarangan bawanya. hikshiks..
di satu sisi, aku jadi punya kendaraan operasional, di sisi lain, aku jadi makin cemas dari waktu ke waktu. gimana donk ya? ..
PS: gambar-gambar ini BUKAN yang 320i, tapi 330i. aku ambil dari kertas spec yang dikasih Pak Edi dulu. aku malu ngambil gambar mobilku sendiri, ntar diamuk kampungan sama temen-temen yang sirik lainnya. hihihi.. maaf yaaa.. :)

Ms. E : Maris, saya pikir kita sudah perlu tambahan kendaraan operasional
aku : untuk apa, mbak?
Ms. E : ya untuk kendaraan operasional tambahan
aku : *duh, iya bodohnya saya. tapi bukan itu pertanyaan saya* maksudnya, untuk divisi apa?
Ms. E : ya untuk kita!
aku : *diam, takut salah lagi*
Ms. E : menurut kamu, kendaraan apa yang cocok ya?
aku sudah (cukup) lama kenal baik dengan divisi lain. rata-rata kendaraan mereka SUV atau kendaraan offroad sekalian, karena memang situasi kerja mereka menuntut demikian. tapi lalu aku mikir, kalau untuk divisi kami, SUV atau kendaraan offroad kayaknya terlalu berlebihan, karena hanya akan dipakai di dalam kota aja. maka tanpa berpikir panjang, aku langsung menyarankan sedan.
aku : mmm .. kalau untuk kita, mungkin lebih baik .. seperti kendaraan mbak aja.
Ms. E menatap tajam ke arahku. datar. dingin. sumpah, aku ga pernah tau ekspresi Ms. E. dia selalu pandai menyimpan emosi. aku ngga tau apa dia marah atau kaget atau kecewa karena aku mengusulkan seperti tadi. yah, untuk kau tau aja, kendaraan operasional Ms. E adalah BMW seri 7 yang terbaru. mungkin dia pikir, aku ini staf yang ngga efisien, dengan mengusulkan sewa kendaraan operasional sedan mewah seperti itu lagi. buru-buru aku ralat.
aku : emmm .. maksud saya, ya bukan seri 7 seperti yang mbak pakai. mungkin seri-seri lawasnya aja. seri 3 lah, maksimal. .. emm .. maksudnya kan .. dengan deal ke sana lagi, kita mungkin akan dapat rate yang lumayan masuk akal .. karena kita .. *tergagap. panik. ga sanggup ngomong lagi*
dan tiba-tiba Ms. E bersabda: jadi, kamu pikir sedan itu keren?
aku : *gelagapan* .. ehm .. eh, .. gimana yaa .. yah, pokoknya okelah.
Ms. E : menurutmu oke? .. oke, kalau gitu, coba urus ke (Pak) Edi ya. kalau bisa, minta secepatnya sore ini juga.
aku : baik, mbak.
jam 3an sore, Pak Edi datang dan memberikan kunci serta surat-surat. BMW 320i, edisi terbaru! karena Ms. E sedang meeting, aku ngga berani ganggu dia untuk minta tandatangan. jam 6, meeting break. Ms. E langsung mencariku dan bertanya soal mobil itu. duh! takut salah nih .. ini kan seri terbaru. sementara tadi bilangnya ..
tapi ternyata Ms. E menandatangani surat-surat itu tanpa memperhatikan seri kendaraan. mungkin karena masih konsen ke sesi meeting berikutnya. untung! selamet deh aku.
sekitar jam 23.00 meeting selesai. di depan lobby, kami sama-sama menunggu mobil Ms. E.
begitu supirnya datang, Ms. E langsung masuk dan menutup pintu. loh?? sial! biasanya kan aku nebeng dia pulang. sekarang, semalam ini, aku terpaksa naik taksi deh untuk pulang .. sadar ngga sih kalau sekarang ini naik taksi pun ngga aman??
pagi ini
pagi ini aku datang jam 7. Ms. E sudah ada di mejanya. ketika aku sapa, dia langsung menghardikku.
Ms. E : Maris, semalam kamu pulang naik apa?
aku : .. taksi, mbak. kenapa?
Ms. E : tadi kamu ke sini naik apa?
aku : .. naik bis. biasa. kenapa, mbak?
Ms. E : apa gunanya mobil keren ini disewa kalau kamu tetap naik taksi dan bis? ngga keren amat sih!!
aku bingung.
Ms. E menyerahkan kunci BMW 320i hitam seri terbaru yang kemarin kami sewa itu ke tanganku.
Ms. E : mulai sekarang, itu kendaraan operasionalmu. kan kemarin kamu sendiri yang sudah memilih mobil keren itu..
aku terbengong-bengong. antara kaget, bingung, ga percaya, sekaligus berbunga-bunga.
BMW 320i? seri terbaru? kendaraan operasionalKU?? ..
.. kayaknya kakiku ngga nempel ke lantai deh ..

Ms. E : you're welcome. but, so just you know, from now one, your work will twice as much as yours now. do you think you could handle that?
me : *giggles* .. no problem, ma'am, as long as i get a raise at least twice as much .. *grins*
Ms. E : well .. i dunno about that. but! i guarantee you, you'll love your bonuses and facilities.
